THE SHORT ANSWER

How do you plan a US B2B lead-generation campaign?

Define the buying unit, offer and account-fit hypothesis before selecting a US region or contact list. Adapt research to the sector, assign contact and channel responsibilities, and coordinate appointments in the buyer’s local time. The campaign brief keeps account selection, qualification, reply handling and sales handoff connected.

10 planning gaps to resolve

  • Choose at least one serviceable US research region.
  • Define supported states, DC coverage and geographic exclusions.
  • Record buyer-local calendar time zones and scheduling capacity.
  • Describe one specific offer your team can deliver.
  • Define eligible buying units, not just an industry code.
  • Identify the relevant buying role and remit.
  • Define the meeting purpose and mandatory fit checks.
  • Approve sender, contact-data handling, commercial email controls and applicable privacy/channel review.
  • Review opt-outs, duplicates, customers, active opportunities and protected accounts.
  • Agree reply ownership, buyer-local calendars, the sales brief and follow-up ownership.

Start with one customer-acquisition hypothesis

US B2B lead generation identifies suitable business accounts and the people connected to a buying problem. Appointment setting carries relevant interest through the agreed fit checks and meeting coordination. A contact, a reply, a booking and an accepted held conversation are different outputs.

Write this sentence before building the list: We offer this specific service or product to this type of buying unit, and this role is a useful first conversation. Then define the evidence needed to support it. An industry label and a senior title are not enough.

This workbook is a planning aid, not legal approval, a quotation or a promise of campaign results. The US service hub explains LeadScorer’s international delivery scope. The private builder above lets you export the plan and its gaps at any stage.

Research buying units, not national company counts

A company can operate several plants, offices or properties. Those locations may have distinct needs but share one supplier-approval process. Decide what constitutes an account, attach relevant operating sites and deduplicate against customers, protected relationships and active opportunities.

County Business Patterns provides establishment-level industry and geographic context. Treat it as aggregate research, not a contact list or proof of buying intent. Check the release year and current methodology notes before using counts. Establishments are not necessarily independent customer decisions.

US lead generation for marketing agencies

Choose one service and the companies that can use it. A hospitality marketing brief, a B2B paid-media service and an influencer campaign need different buyers and portfolio evidence. Distinguish a national brand team from franchise or independently operated locations; neither automatically owns the other’s brief.

Media World’s published hospitality campaign reports 12 appointments in 30 days serving the US market. It is an India-based agency. The record does not establish attendance or closed revenue, and does not disclose individual prospects or all campaign tactics.

Use the US marketing-agency service brief and agency client-acquisition guide. Qualify the service, account, relevant owner and discovery purpose—not a promised retainer.

US lead generation for accounting firms

Separate bookkeeping, outsourced accounting, controllership and fractional CFO offers. Define engagement complexity, supported systems, service coverage and the practice’s onboarding capacity. A finance executive’s title does not mean the business wants outside finance leadership.

Have the firm approve professional and jurisdiction boundaries. Keep confidential records out of cold outreach and professional acceptance out of the appointment-setter’s claims. The first consultation should establish initial fit and the questions the firm needs to assess next.

See the US accounting service brief, accounting client-acquisition guide and fractional CFO prospecting guide. We do not currently publish a matching US accounting managed-campaign case.

US B2B SaaS lead generation and demo qualification

Select accounts for a supported workflow, then map the user, functional owner, implementation sponsor and approver. A US subsidiary may evaluate locally or participate in a group-wide decision. Public software use, funding and hiring remain research signals until the buyer confirms relevance.

Specify the meeting stage. Discovery, a product demonstration and a technical workshop need different participants and evidence. Keep security and integration unknowns visible rather than calling every booking evaluation-ready.

Use the US SaaS service brief, demo qualification checklist and SaaS prospecting guide. A demo is not automatically an SQL or a qualified opportunity. No matching US SaaS result is currently published.

US manufacturing lead generation and OEM acquisition

Build from approved production capabilities: process, material, application, certification and territory. Attach the relevant plant to its group account, then map engineering, quality and procurement responsibilities. A production site and a registered office have different research value.

Define whether the next conversation is a capability discussion or sourcing evaluation. Detailed specifications can follow through the buyer’s approved process. An introduction does not establish an RFQ, supplier approval or purchase order.

See the US manufacturing service brief and OEM acquisition guide. OnePercent’s record reports 17 appointments in 90 days for apparel manufacturing with a consulting context. It does not establish a US industrial managed-campaign result.

US logistics lead generation and shipper acquisition

Define the actual serviceable movement: origin, destination, cargo, handling and facility requirements. Identify who controls transportation purchasing. A carrier, forwarding partner and cargo-owning business are different prospect types and need separate offers.

A spot-rate request can be useful without establishing recurring freight volume. Qualify the agreed service discussion and record unknown contract or procurement details. Operations retains rates, capacity approval and execution.

Use the US logistics service brief and shipper prospecting guide. Bay Tankers’ published importer work concerns India, not a US freight result.

Choose regions and buyer-local scheduling separately

The Census regional definitions organize states into the Northeast, Midwest, South and West. Use them as research groupings; they do not establish time zones, service coverage or buying demand.

The US regional planning sections connect those groupings to account checks and nine existing city guides. Compare New York City, Chicago, Houston and San Francisco where their context is relevant. These are planning guides, not local offices.

For each attendee, record the calendar time-zone identifier and availability. A distributed buyer may not work where headquarters is listed. US DOT time guidance explains federal time-zone and daylight-saving context. Review Alaska, Hawaii and daylight-saving exceptions rather than assuming mainland ET-to-PT scheduling covers everyone.

Review commercial email, data and channel responsibilities

The FTC’s commercial email guidance includes B2B messages. Its review points include accurate sender and subject information, advertising disclosure, a valid postal address and an accessible opt-out. Opt-outs must be honored within 10 business days; the mechanism must work for at least 30 days. Outsourcing does not remove the advertiser’s responsibility.

Do not treat that email review as an all-channel or all-state approval. Have responsible owners assess data sources, vendor use, retention, security and applicable privacy duties. California’s privacy overview describes applicability and notes that its employment and B2B exemptions expired at the end of 2022. A business contact is not a blanket exemption. This is an example of a state-specific review—not a complete national legal checklist.

Phone and SMS need their own channel review and are not part of this workbook’s proposed email-and-LinkedIn scope. Platform terms and sender requirements also matter. Use qualified advice for your actual campaign; the builder’s checkboxes record your review, not a legal conclusion.

Release the pilot only when the owners can use the handoff

Agree account and buying-role rules, exclusions, mandatory qualification, a truthful offer and the sales team’s calendar capacity. Decide who owns replies, opt-outs, no-shows, rejection reasons and next-step feedback. Keep booked, held and accepted outcomes in the same defined cohort when calculating rates.

How to use this B2B outbound resource

  • Select an actual buying unit

Separate a company, its facilities and the team that can commission your offer.

  • Give each sector its own criteria

Agency discovery, accounting consultations, SaaS demos, industrial sourcing and shipper conversations need distinct briefs.

  • Separate region from calendar

Record serviceable states and the attendee’s time zone rather than deriving both from a headquarters address.

  • Review launch gaps

Download the working brief and unresolved checks without submitting your entries or signing up.

Apply this to your outbound decision.

Start with your actual offer, market, qualification requirements and the work your team can own. Examples and calculator estimates are not campaign guarantees.
